Symposium and Science Award

We have tried to bring inspiration, motivation and the perfect scholarly role models to our emerging young scientists in Türkiye and beyond and created an environment for the most junior inspiring scientists and the brightest stars to illuminate their paths and forms bonds. During the past 10 years, we organized the biennial “Metabolism and Life” Symposium, 4 times, alternating between in İstanbul and Boston, with the goal of establishing a scientific bridge between two cities, two countries and all scholars. Sabri Ülker Foundation hosted this very special event managed its communications.  We thank the Kadir Has Üniversity for hosting the last of this Symposium in its beautiful campus in a masterful manner.

This International event brought together a spectacular array of global experts exploring broad aspects of metabolism. The Metabolism and Life Symposium was among the most recognized and prestigious events in the world, has created an unparalleled opportunity for attendees to network, engage, and learn about the science from various related sub-fields. The Symposium featured 5 Nobel Laureates, 48 of the most prominent senior scientists, and 16 rising stars, and reached tens of thousands of attendees.  In each of the meetings, we also presented the world the best of Türkiye’s multidimensional culture and art.  We are most grateful to Karsu Dönmez, Ahmet Kanneci, Cem Sağbil, Burcu Soysev, Güldiyar Tanrıdağlı, and Cengiz Özkan for their invaluable contributions.

We will remember these fantastic scientific events with the words of two Nobel Laureates, Drs. Brown and Goldstein:

“ It is an honor to speak at the Sabri Ülker Symposium. I deeply admire Gökhan’s love for Turkey and his desire to encourage Turkish scientists at home and abroad. The Center is off to a great start.” Michael S. Brown

“ Thanks go to Gökhan for orchestrating such a “scholarly feast,” as he so aptly described the event. It is truly a wonderful celebration of science in a temple of science.” Joseph L. Goldstein
